JANUARY 2025

  • Dear Aries, you've had a busy and transformative 18 months, and while this upcoming year is still quite busy, the whole "I am an entirely different person now" vibe will ease enough for you to begin integrating The Changes. One of the major themes of 2025 is the interplay between your social circle and romantic/family life. Mars, planet of action and aggression, is forcing you to concentrate on romantic partnerships, creative self-expression, and children (if you have them). This energy bleeds through from last month and, amidst the chaos, arguments, and general question of how to best use your currently very limited energy, you now have to deal with managing how your family obligations affect your friendships. The Cancer Full Moon on the 13th will emphasize that further, with the added tension of balancing family and career, but there are some sweet shows of cosmic support, most notably around the 25th when Venus and Mars play nice with each other. Your efforts, especially the emotional ones, have not been in vain!

That theme starts off the month, with January 2nd s cosmic showdown between Mars and Pluto (ya know, planet of transformation, darkness, and power) affecting that delicate balance. This day may bring some kind of conflict: maybe your friends are annoyed you're spending more time with your partner or kids (or vice versa)? Or perhaps due to your partner/kids, you've had to completely revamp your social circle? You've just embarked on a period of long-term transformation centering on friendships and the communities you belong to, so pay attention to this day! The latter half of January will revisit this theme, starting on the 19th with the onset of Aquarius season. Just two days later, the Sun barrels into Pluto, revealing any community-wide power dynamics you may have missed. This can bring some dark thoughts and feelings, but it's good information to have up your sleeve in case you need to recalibrate said power dynamics. The 28th tosses Mercury into this mix: your mind might be churning over this particular topic or maybe you just feel a need to talk to your friends more. All of this builds up to January 29th's Aquarius New Moon, which begins a fresh new friendship cycle. Hold on to your hat because this New Moon could activate any suppressed fears or feelings of isolation...which brings me to your other main theme, one that will continue on in the background for the next year and a half: your mental health! (Yay.) The current circumstances of your life may be limiting your exposure to the outside world (or maybe you’re just hermiting), so please make sure to take care of your state of mind as best you can.

The good news is that Venus, planet of beauty, harmony, and values, enters Pisces and your 12th house of solitude and mental health on January 3rd. Instead of sinking into feeling as if love and pleasure are hiding from you, funnel your efforts towards focusing on your mental and spiritual well-being. (Self-love, baby!) On the 14th, Venus gets into a spat with Jupiter, causing tension with your siblings or affecting travel, communication, or tech. This energy will continue to build for a few days until Venus meets up with Saturn, buzzkill extraordinaire, on January 19th. This transit could thwart your attempts, but if you treat the issue with enough seriousness and responsibility, Saturn can help you create long-lasting positive change. Start the year off strong.

  • Happy New Year, Taurus! There are a few big story arcs in store for you this month, but we'll start with the one that'll bookend January: family vs career. The month begins with an opposition between Mars and Pluto on the 2nd, creating tension between your 4th house of home and family and your 10th house of career and public image. Mars creates strife and Pluto signifies power struggles or something hidden coming to light, meaning you may be embroiled in some family drama that's interfering with your deepest ambitions. Another possibility is that someone in a position of power has been impeding your career efforts. This is an ongoing theme that will be pop up again in a few months, so pay attention to this day and the messages it brings. Your career is in the process of deep transformation, and January truly highlights that, especially during the last half of the month once Aquarius season arrives on the 19th! The Sun lights up the life area it touches, and the spotlight will be on your professional self. (Possibly quite literally — this is a very public part of your chart.) However, on the 21st the Sun will run into Pluto, who is stirring up trouble all over the place this month. Again, this could indicate a power imbalance, but it could also bring forth a revival of your own power, especially in regards to your life's work. You might be exposed to something you don't really want to see, but you're strong enough (and stubborn enough) to deal with it. On the 28th, Mercury, a planet that influences thought processes, also moves into Aquarius. While you're already aware your thoughts will be concentrated on climbing up the ladder, this transit could also gift you with truly inventive and revolutionary ideas that could propel you into your ideal future!

This career story exists side-by-side with the tale of your community, which is another huge focus this month (and will continue to be for the next year and a half). Beginning on the 3rd, Venus, planet of love and beauty (and your planetary ruler!) enters Pisces and your 11th house of friendships and community. Saturn has been cruising through this part of your life, bringing its trademark grimness and obstacles, but once Venus enters the mix, that energy will soften and the harmony will flow. You may meet new friends or people of influence that could help you achieve your goals. The 14th brings a tense square between Venus and Jupiter, but with these two benefic planets, a square often means even more blessings and/or decadence. For you, this energy centers on finances and material possessions. You may receive an important gift; you could also end up spending a bit too much money. A few days later, on January 19th, Venus finally has to contend with running into Saturnian rules and restrictions. This is a day that could take the wind out of your sails or motivate you to double down on long-term planning. The "system" can often be your friend, and if you're running into red tape issues or other roadblocks, remember that Venusian sweetness and social grace are very powerful tools! Your career and community are quite tangled up together at this juncture, and the Aquarius New Moon on the 29th will clearly showcase that. This is an opportunity to set new career intentions, ones that enforce your uniquely idealistic and egalitarian approach, and it will somehow circle back to your friendships and community.

While these are the biggest themes of the month for you, there is some side action happening in your neighborhood, or perhaps involving a sibling, communication, or technology. On the 6th, Mars moves back into Cancer and your 3rd house of those topics, reigniting a complicated love/hate relationship with them. The Cancer Full Moon of the 13th will highlight this tension, perhaps shining a light on how you can manage it, and the 25th features a cute moment of support between Venus and Mars, reinforcing that intuition, emotional awareness, and empathy can go a long way to ameliorate any conflict.

  • Happy New Year, Gemini! This month (and indeed the entire year) swings the focus onto your ideals. As an adaptable, mental Gemini, you’re chock-full of ever-evolving concepts: new thoughts and ideas are the sprinkles on the cupcake of life, however — you’re pretty stubborn on the “what is the meaning of life” type stuff. That’s because, as changeable as you can be, the part of your chart that deals with those topics is in Aquarius, an idealistic Saturn-ruled fixed sign (read: you take your personal life philosophies seriously and you’re stubborn about ‘em). This house is also associated with long distance travel, higher education, spirituality, divination, and publishing (essentially anything that opens your mind to the wider world around you) so those themes may also pop up!

Keep that in mind throughout this month, because that’s where most of the cosmic activity is centered. You’re in the middle of a rare period of evolution, and so it makes sense that your Big Thoughts follow along. This theme opens up January, with a clash between Mars and Pluto on the 2nd, a combo that can bring about transformation via conflict. Whether it manifests as being hindered by someone in a position of power (possibly an extended relative or someone from your neighborhood), or even just an internal struggle, depends on your particular situation. The middle of the month has some other stuff going on, but this theme will pop back up once Aquarius season begins on the 19th, as the Sun shines its light on these topics, illuminating them even further. The 21st is a big day — Pluto will join the Sun at the same degree of the zodiac, allowing the planet of transformation, darkness, and power dynamics to be flooded with Solar brightness and vitality. This could bring new information to the surface, help you realize your own innate power, or even shine enough light on a personal struggle to temper your fear of it. All of this will culminate on the 29th with the Aquarius New Moon, which symbolizes a new chapter re: all of the above. (Which, honestly, probably has a lot to do with your current career ambitions!)

Circling back to earlier in the month, Venus glides into your career sector on the 3rd, making things a little sweeter and more balanced. This is a good time to make connections and employ your natural charm to advance your ambitions! January 14th brings tension between Venus and Jupiter, two planets who, at the time, are chilling in very auspicious areas of your chart. They’re also the most beneficial planets in astrology, so this “tension” could very well be positive — just try to make sure you stay true to you because that’s what will bring you the most luck right now, especially in your work! And especially since the 19th brings a Venus-Saturn conjunction in your career house, symbolizing a roadblock of some kind. Responsibility, staying serious about your intentions, and simply fulfilling your tasks will get you through it. On the 25th, Venus receives support from Mars, indicating a career boost (or a possible financial boost). It’s a lot of ups and downs re: career at this time, but January does end on a high note here! The one other theme worth mentioning is what’s happening in your 2nd house of finances and possessions. The Cancer Full Moon of January 13th indicates peak activity and illumination re: those topics (even if Mars is stirring up the pot here), and there’s a glimmer of other people’s money in the mix. You may be considering applying for a grant or loan, but this is an ongoing story that will play out over the next few months. Til next time, Gemini!

  • Happy New Year, sweet Cancer! You’ve got a lot going on revolving around the topic of your closest bonds, transformative experiences, and finances, especially money received from others. January starts off with a bang on the 2nd with an opposition between Mars and Pluto, who just happen to be hanging out in the sectors of your chart that deal with your money and other people’s money. (This could mean loans, taxes, grants, or shared resources in general.) Pluto represents darkness, transformation, and power dynamics, while Mars symbolizes action, conflict, and bravery, so this cosmic meet-up may ask you to call upon those qualities within yourself! Any issues that pop up are likely to be of the financial kind, but there’s also a chance they stem from your fears and desires around deeply merging with another person. (Sigh, but also…yuck.) There is a lot of transformational energy swirling about in your life lately, and this month really brings it to a head, especially once Mars leaves your finances alone and glides backwards into your sign on the 6th. You’re in one of the most Martial periods of your life in recent memory (read: lots of anger, burnout, conflict, etc. In the long run, it’s good. But right now? You’re over it.) However, it’s important to note that Mars also symbolizes editing, so if you need to edit something or someone out of your life, now’s the time to do it. (Be brave!)

The latter half of January is an echo of its opening, especially once the Sun moves into Aquarius and your 8th house on the 19th, followed by a Pluto cazimi on the 21st. A cazimi is when a planet joins up with the Sun in an exact conjunction, causing that planet (in this case Pluto) to receive the full light and revitalizing power of the Sun. This is a day that could illuminate some of those aforementioned power dynamics — my advice to you is to remember you always have some power in any given situation. As a nurturing, empathic Cancer, you tend to place the happiness of others over your own, but these past several months have shown you that it doesn’t always have to be that way (and in fact, it shouldn’t.) You’ve also learned a lot of recent lessons about your mental health, so while you navigate the world of shared resources, tap into that strength!

This topic comes to a head during the Aquarius New Moon on January 29th, a symbolic fresh start re: all of the above. This New Moon will import themes from another part of your chart that also has a leading role this month, your 9th house of personal philosophy, higher education, spirituality, and long-distance travel. This is your ideals sector, representing everything in life that expands your mind and spirit, so if you’ve been feeling dispirited lately, relying on your hard-won personal belief systems will help ease your fears. And not for nothing, this part of your life and psyche receives a lovely boost from Venus this month, sweetening the pot with some balance and unity. You may make new connections in a place of worship or on a trip; you could even find a mentor, especially a spiritual or academic one! You’ll experience a lot of ups and downs in this life area during the month however, with a boost from Venus and Jupiter on the 14th followed by a run-in with limiting Saturn on the 19th. There will be luck and blessings (possibly facilitated by a loved one), but it’s likely you’ll run into roadblocks or feel like you’re drowning in responsibilities. The 25th brings support from both Venus and Mars, and you may feel a burst of energy or a renewed sense of courage and strength. It’s a nice little cosmic balm, so rub it in.

  • Happy New Year, sunny Leo! Relationships are the tone this month, with deep transformation on the docket (but you already knew that). January 2nd is a day to watch for as Mars, planet of anger, action, courage, and conflict, clashes with Pluto, harbinger of darkness and shadows. Mars has been in your sign for several weeks and you’ve been feeling the burn so to speak, but now that this planet has slowed down due to retrograde, its topics have become more challenging. It’s important to find ways to blow off steam, especially if you feel yourself sliding towards rash behavior, making hasty decisions, or initiating unnecessary arguments. If that’s not the case, perhaps you’ve hit an unprecedented level of burnout or are confused about your life direction and don’t know where to aim your energy. However it manifests for you, once Mars faces Pluto on the 2nd, you’ll encounter some shadows, especially within the context of your closest one-on-one relationships. This may sound scary, but it doesn’t have to be — it could actually be the beginning of a beautiful metamorphosis! Keep in mind that you possess significant innate power and sparkle, plus enough agency to steer your own ship. This theme will be revisited during the last half of the month once the Sun, your ruling planet, moves into Aquarius and your 7th house of partnerships on January 19th. This is the onset of Aquarius season during which the Sun’s illumination lights up that part of your life! Pluto is still chilling there though, and on the 21st this planet is joined by the Sun in an exact conjunction. This is a rare cosmic event called a cazimi, and it’s an illuminating, revitalizing moment during which you’ll receive clarity, insight, and renewed strength, especially in your relationships. The 29th brings a New Moon, also in Aquarius, also focused on partnership, and while it signifies a new chapter in this life area, the focus reflects back to your closest bonds and shared resources. Maybe you’re considering moving in with a partner, and the decision-making process isn’t as clear as you’d like it to be; or perhaps your partner’s financial situation isn’t the best and you’re wondering if it’s a good decision to merge resources. (Etc.) If you’re not partnered up, it could be that your hope is flagging. Buck up! This transit will be reprised in the Spring; this is only the first part of the story.

A bright spot appears on January 3rd as Venus moves into Pisces to bring love and hope to a life area that deeply revolves around shared resources. Venus loves being in dreamy, empathic Pisces, but her several-week stay is kind of an emotional roller coaster this time around! The good: on the 14th, Venus receives a boost from Jupiter and your 11th house of friendship and community. Your friends could be your rock at this moment, but it could also be as simple as having a fun social outing to lighten up the mood. On the 19th, Venus faces grim Saturn, which will remind you of how serious everything is, but all Saturn wants is for you to focus on your long-term goals. Meanwhile, Mars retrograde will return to Cancer and your 12th house of isolation and mental health on the 6th for an extended stay. You’re no stranger to this vibe and at this point have hopefully turned your efforts towards managing your mental and emotional reactions. All transits impart lessons (especially the more challenging ones) so why not learn them and get it over with?! The Cancer Full Moon of the 13th will bring further illumination to this topic (full moons light up the darkness), so while this may be an emotionally exhausting day, I feel it will bring some closure for you.

  • Happy New Year, Virgo! This is a month focused on your physical health and daily routines, your work life, and just the things you do every day to take care of yourself. (It’s a very Virgoan theme, so you definitely got this!) January is bookended by several cosmic events that touch on this topic, with the first being a showdown between Mars and Pluto on the 2nd. Mars is a planet that influences our “red” emotions and reactions: rage, courage, lust, competitiveness. You get the picture. And Mars has been hiding out in the part of your chart that symbolizes mental health and feeling isolated, so you may be experiencing some (annoying and inconvenient) repressed emotions popping up, which can absolutely also affect your physical health. With that as the background, once Mars faces Pluto, symbol of darkness, obsession, power struggles — and complete and total transformation — these two parts of you (i.e. your mental and physical health) must come to an agreement. You may be experiencing some concerning health symptoms that awaken your fears, but another way this can play out is by you taking control of your health and embracing Plutonian complete and total physical transformation. This isn’t something to stress about, but pay attention to any new trends you notice creeping up in this life area because it will be an ongoing story! If this doesn’t ring true, perhaps you’re experiencing some challenges at work, or with a pet. (Pets are a lesser-known topic of this part of your chart.) We’ll get to the middle of the month, but the end of January brings a reprise of this theme beginning on the 19th when the Sun enters Aquarius, peaking on the 21st when Pluto meets up with the Sun for a rare cazimi. At this moment, Pluto will receive the full brunt of the Sun’s vitality and illumination, which, here on planet Earth, translates as clarity and a sense of renewed strength and power. If you’ve been dealing with any of the challenges I mentioned, this day could deliver important messages, conversations, or events. Then, on the 29th, a New Moon in Aquarius delivers a chance to plant new seeds in this life area! (It’s also likely your close one-on-one relationships somehow tie in to this story arc.)

As for the rest of the month (my sincerest apologies to you Virgos for the non-linear timeline), you have a few lovely transits coming up! On the 3rd, right after that aforementioned Mars-Pluto clash, Venus moves into your 7th house of partnerships, bringing extra sweet and romantic moments if you’re coupled up; if you’re not, it’s a good time to get out there and mingle. While this is definitely cute for you, there is an up-and-down element to this transit over the course of the month. On the 14th, Venus receives a boost of luck and decadence from Jupiter (this can also play out in your career, as that’s where Jupiter’s hanging out!), but soon runs into Saturn, planet of restrictions and responsibilities on January 19th. This can bring roadblocks within your relationships, even some aloofness, but it can also foster seriousness regarding long-term plans. (You pick your Saturnian poison.) Another good thing (well, maybe not good, but better) is that Mars leaves your 12th house where it has been inflaming your mental health and moves into your 11th house of friendships and community. Your friends may be going through it, coming to you for solace and support; alternatively, you could be fighting with a friend or feeling excluded from your social circle. This theme culminates with a Full Moon in Cancer on the 13th, a moment of peak activity and illumination. A Full Moon completes a lunar cycle, so it may involve an ending of some kind (especially with Mars involved), but that’s the worst-case scenario. Later on in the month, on the 25th, Venus and Mars play nice with each other (for once), which will hopefully act as a balm to heal any lingering wounds. Until next time, Virgo!

  • Happy New Year, sweet Libra! How are your friendships doing? I ask because instigator Mars has been cruising through that sector of your chart for a while now (no doubt stirring up some trouble), and on January 2nd, it’s slated to clash with Pluto, planet of secrets, transformative experiences, and power dynamics. Pluto is stationed in your 5th house of dating, children, creative self-expression, sex and pleasure, so any conflict you experience will center on those themes and how they affect your extended social circles. This energy is a holdover from last month, but it’s worth another mention because not only is it a huge focal point of January, it’s a story arc with several upcoming chapters! (Stay tuned…) Any friendship conflicts should soften by the 6th once Mars retrogrades out of your friendship sector and moves on to influence your career. However, Pluto continues to revolutionize your dating life all month. (Or your creativity, kids, fun, etc. All of these topics are related!) The Pluto vibes intensify once Aquarius season kicks off on the 19th and, as the Sun shines down on the above themes, its light brings them into sharper focus — which is good because, on the 21st, Pluto collides into the Sun in a rare transit called a cazimi. As they hover at the same degree of the zodiac, Pluto will receive all of the Sun’s light and vitality, creating an empowering moment full of clarity and illumination. You might find out something new that impacts your dating life, resolve a problem involving a power imbalance, or simply just come to terms with it all. Power dynamics are an inescapable element in dating (especially during the earlier stages); as a relationship oriented, conflict-avoidant Libra, it’s easier for you to keep the peace rather than rock the boat…but what if you’re giving away too much of your own power? Think about that throughout January, because it closes out with an Aquarius New Moon on the 29th that provides an opportunity to plant new seeds in this life area, and guess what? You get to pick what to plant!

The other big theme of the month is career and visibility. As I mentioned earlier, Mars returns to your career sector on the 6th, but another moment of peak activity in this life area will be the Cancer Full Moon of January 13th. If you’ve been experiencing aggravation or disruption in your long-term career ambitions, this moment could provide some clarity (especially emotional clarity) amidst the chaos. Full Moons symbolize a point of fruition and often relate back to a corresponding New Moon in the same sign…in this case, the Cancer New Moon of July 5th. Did anything important happen around then? It might be relevant to what happens at this Full Moon! Additionally, Venus, planet of love and unity, moves into Pisces and your 6th house of physical health, work, and daily routines on January 3rd, bringing a boost to those topics. (Which is nice, because it hasn’t been the happiest life area for you lately.) Venus is a busy gal this month, first encountering Jupiter on the 14th, a decadent day that may also involve themes of travel, spirituality, or higher education. However, Venus eventually runs into Saturn on the 19th, a decidedly undecadent vibe — it may be time to buckle down and take care of yourself better or show a more serious face at the office. Alternatively, you could clash with an authority figure at work. Breaking out your innate Venusian charm and tact in the workplace this month could not only ease any conflict, it can help your overall career goals too, especially around the 25th when Mars and Venus work together to smooth things out. Whatever you do, try think before you act and definitely don’t make any rash decisions involving your career this month. Instead, gather your energy and resources and work the room as only you know how.

  • Happy 2025, Scorpio! Mars is your planetary ruler, which gives you natural reserves of strength, strategy, and staying power, but it also gives it the power to affect you more than other signs. And right now, Mars is burning up your career sector, causing disruption, aggravation, and — due to Mars being retrograde — sloooow progress. Mars won’t stay there for long, but before it slides back into Cancer on the 6th, it’ll face Pluto in a powerful cosmic showdown centered on the balance between your career and family life. These planets are in opposite signs, meaning whatever specific issue it reflects in your life is one involving two things (or people) that are so different from each other they struggle to find common ground. It’s likely you’ll run across some issues involving career/family power dynamics, but another way this could play out is in your mind: darkness, obsession, even despair, aren’t new to you (sometimes they’re your actual default mode tbh), but they don’t have to be part of this equation! Career and family are two of the most important life areas for anyone, which makes keeping them both happy during a conflict even more challenging. As a Martial Scorpio, you’re not above cutting whatever doesn’t serve you out of your life for good, but it’s not a great idea to make any rash decisions while Mars is still retrograde. Besides, some solutions should present themselves by the end of the month! The Sun moves into Aquarius on the 19th, lighting up your 4th house of home and family, and on the 21st, it joins Pluto in an exact conjunction. This day holds the promise of clarity and renewal, and as Pluto soaks up the bright rays of the Sun (a symbol of illumination and vitality), the concept of whatever power struggles you’ve endured is also renewed. What I mean by this is that the Plutonian darkness will be burned away long enough for you to see what lies beneath…and long enough for you to come up with a plan to deal with it. All of this eventually leads up to the Aquarius New Moon on the 29th, an opportunity for you to take what January has taught you and put it to good use. New Moons symbolize new beginnings, and this one heavily ties into your 5th house of romance, children, and creativity (another huge focal point this month).

Venusian topics are the big side quest of January and once the planet of love, beauty, and values moves into Pisces on the 3rd, you’ll experience a burst of creative inspiration as well as an extra-sweet few weeks of romance and harmony in your love life. (If you’re single, this is an excellent time to meet someone!) Venus is busy this month, navigating a square to Jupiter on the 14th, imparting even more decadence and good vibes (just watch out you don’t end up spending too much money around this time). Then, on the 19th, Venus runs into Saturn, snapping you back into reality for a moment: your responsibilities seem heavier, and those lovely creative juices will seem to dry up. You can evade the Saturnian grimness by creating more structure and boundaries in both your romantic and creative lives. Saturn just wants to help, and following the “rules,” while annoying, usually works wonders during its transits. Finally, there’s a lot going on in your 9th house of long-distance travel, spirituality, higher education, and publishing! January 6th sees Mars returning to that life area, and while that could mean canceled trips, spiritual crises, and/or denied applications, it can also be an opportunity to rethink how you spend your time and energy on these themes. The Cancer Full Moon shines down on this part of your chart on the 13th, a peak moment of activity and illumination — something you began in early July may come to fruition under the light of the Full Moon, or you may get some closure relating to these topics. Then, on the 25th Venus and Mars join forces in a show of support to help ease any lingering, heavy Full Moon feelings. With Venus in your 5th house, my advice is to create something beautiful. Until next month, Scorpio!

  • Happy New Year, Sagittarius! The planet Pluto, which represents transformation, rebirth, power dynamics, and underworld journeys, recently moved into the part of your chart that presides over themes of siblings and other extended family members, your immediate neighborhood, short trips, communication, and early childhood education. In layman’s terms, this means that slow-moving Pluto is set to transform these life areas over the course of two decades — and the astrology of January zooms in on them big time. Mars, planet of action and energy, has been lighting fires in your 9th house of spirituality, higher education, long-distance travel, and publishing for a few weeks now. Mars will soon retrograde into another part of your chart, but not before it faces off with Pluto on January 2nd, causing friction between these two life areas. Since there are a variety of topics covered by these astrological areas, it’s tough to pinpoint how it may play out, but here are some examples: you’re set to go on a big trip, but a sibling becomes ill and you have to cancel it; you’re applying to college, but a past teacher won’t write a recommendation; you were recently asked to write for a neighborhood publication and it leads to higher-paying gigs…you catch the drift. This planetary clash sets the tone for most of the month, especially the latter half, as the Sun moves into Aquarius and your 3rd house on the 19th, followed by a Pluto cazimi on the 21st. A cazimi is simply when a planet reaches the same exact degree of the zodiac as the Sun, so close that it receives all of its warmth and illumination. At this time, the topics of Pluto (see above), are also symbolically illuminated and revitalized. You may come up with a solution to a specific power struggle you’re facing, receive new info that gives you the upper hand, or — and this one is my favorite option, as so much of astrology plays out internally — you might just feel more okay about it all. The Plutonian shadows and darkness that were exacerbated earlier in the month feel a little lighter. Only a few days later, on the 29th, the Aquarius New Moon arrives to provide a fresh start re: all of the above, so take all you’ve felt and learned over the course of the month and plant the appropriate seeds for your future!

The rest of the cosmic happenings this month are ultra watery (i.e. subtle, emotional, intuitively felt), which can be a challenge for your fiery self! (Subtlety? Not your strong suit.) On the 3rd, Venus moves into Pisces and your 4th house of home and family, bringing sweetness and harmony to your family life. Venus has some fateful encounters during her cruise through Pisces, meeting up with Jupiter on the 14th to create an absolutely decadent and romantic vibe (especially since Jupiter is in your 7th house of partnerships) (also, if you’re single, this is a great day to see what’s out there!). On the 19th however, Venus runs into buzzkill Saturn, reminding you that responsibilities exist and that sometimes they limit your fun (apologies, dear Sagittarius, as this is not your vibe). Meanwhile, retrograde Mars slides back into Cancer and your 8th house of shared resources, close bonds, and mortality on the 6th, reprising a story arc that dominated much of the Fall. The topic of shared resources (especially with Venus in your home and family sector) could mean plans to move in with a significant other, or even receiving an inheritance or taking on a relative’s tax burden (this is Mars after all, so we also have to consider the challenging ways this can manifest). Whatever it is, there will be a moment of peak importance in that life area during the Cancer Full Moon of January 13th. This is a financial lunation for you, and you may be stressed about money (again, Mars), but keep an eye out for the 25th, when Venus and Mars play nice and you may receive a financial boost. Though this will be an ongoing issue into the Spring, there is hope on the other side (stay tuned…).

  • Happy 2025, dear Capricorn! Finances are the issue at hand this month, and since Pluto entered Aquarius and your 2nd house of money and possessions several months ago, I’m sure cash money has been on your mind. Mars is currently burning through your 8th house, and you may have been spending more than you’d like. Alternatively, you could be putting energy into applying for loans or grants, receiving an inheritance, or dealing with tax issues. Mars agitates (and retrograde Mars even more so), and the stress you may be experiencing will come to a head on the 2nd, when Mars and Pluto form an opposition, facing off with each other as if to say “who’s going to cave first?” Pluto imports power struggles, as well as feelings of darkness and helplessness, so this could play out as not getting what you want due to a power imbalance, or (more likely in my opinion) feeling despair at all you have to deal with. But you’re the zodiac’s preeminent realist, Capricorn, and I have faith you’ll get things sorted out, especially towards the end of the month once the Sun moves into Aquarius. The Sun illuminates whatever life area it transits through, and on the 21st, our cosmic source of light and heat runs right into Pluto (again, the Pluto vibes are strong this month), forming a cazimi, or exact conjunction. When this happens, Pluto will be flooded with the bright life-giving rays of the Sun, and this symbolism will trickle down into the real world, illuminating whatever issues you’re experiencing and guiding you towards actionable solutions. At the very least, the darkness will ease up and you’ll feel a renewed sense of strength and power. There are two Saturn-ruled ruled signs of the zodiac: Capricorn (that’s you!) — and Aquarius. In a way, you feel a certain kinship with this energy, and your innate understanding of rules and red tape are a huge asset while you roll up your sleeves and get to work dealing with it all. The climax will be the Aquarius New Moon of the 29th, providing a chance for you to look within for answers.

Additionally, this will be a “think-y” month for you (and possibly talk-y), especially once Mercury enters your sign on the 8th, staying for just a couple of weeks. Your mind will be a bit sharper during this time, and Venus rolls in to help as well, moving into Pisces and your 3rd house of communication and learning new skills. (This house also rules siblings, so if you have any, they make play a role!) Venus makes a few important connections during her short stay in Pisces, the first being a square to Jupiter in Gemini (more thinking! more talk!) on the 14th. This is coming from your work and health sector, and those life areas will receive the full benefit of these two lucky planets. On the 19th, Venus slams into Saturn, planet of responsibility and restrictions, but — as a Saturn-ruled sign yourself — this may come as a comfort. This day may be a buzzkill, but it most likely will simply encourage you to buckle down and work even harder. Relationships are also an important theme this month, especially once Mars retrogrades back into Cancer and your 7th house of relationships. Mars is an inflammatory energy, and this life area may have been going through it for a long while, but Mars also brings action and movement (limited movement though cuz retrograde). Regardless, relationships will be a focal point for several months, but in the meantime, keep an eye out for the 25th when Venus sends a lovely beam of support to Mars, hopefully easing some of the heat.

  • Happy New Year, Aquarius, you have so much going on! Let’s get right to it. January kicks off with some possible conflict, as Mars, planet of anger, aggression, and severance, goes toe-to-toe with Pluto, planet of secrets and shadowy power dynamics. Mars is lighting up your 7th house of partnership, while Pluto is hanging out in your sign (!!), so if you do experience some issues, they may involve relationship dynamics. Pluto also represents transformation and rebirth, and over the next two decades, you’ll experience the ups and downs of personal evolution — which will naturally affect your closest relationships! (You’re probably currently at the identity crisis stage.) The key to managing this dynamic is balance. You’re quite egalitarian and utopian, but that doesn’t necessarily make you ego-less…in fact, you can be pretty rigid about your beliefs and ideals. However, sometimes you have to bend a little to please your loved ones (and they should do the same in return!). Keep that in mind as you navigate what January has in store for you, especially towards the end of the month. January 19th brings the onset of Aquarius season, during which the Sun shines its rays on you and all that you represent. (While you’ll be more magnetic during this time, you’re not the biggest fan of the spotlight.) The 21st brings a very important transit for you: a Pluto cazimi. A cazimi occurs when a planet joins the Sun at the same degree of the zodiac, allowing it to receive its illuminating and revitalizing rays, and since Solar light represents sight, this day could provide some much-needed clarity. All of this — the conflict, the drama, the identity crises — leads up to the Aquarius New Moon of the 29th. A New Moon symbolizes a new beginning, but it also represents darkness, and looking within. You tend to rely on your incredibly mind, but sometimes the answers you’re looking for can’t be thought, they can only be felt.

Though the beginning of the month involves relational themes, Mars does leave your partnership sector on the 6th, moving into your work and health sector, where it’ll stay for a long while. You may experience workplace drama or health issues, and the Cancer Full Moon of January 13th will bring a moment of peak activity for those life areas, highlighting the correlation between your mental and physical health. Meanwhile, you’ve probably been experiencing a financial crunch lately, but that could ease a bit once Venus enters Pisces and your 2nd house of money and possessions on the 3rd! Venus joins forces with Jupiter on the 14th, a decadent combo, and while it could bring some financial good luck, it could also mean extra spending — these two planets just want to have fun, who cares about the cost?! That vibe should be reined in by the 19th however, due to Venus running headlong into Saturn, planet restriction and responsibility (and your planetary ruler!). Implementing more financial structure and limits, even if they are a buzzkill, could benefit you at this time. Finally, keep an eye on the 25th as Venus sends a stream of support to Mars, boosting your workplace presence and value.

  • Happy 2025, dear Pisces! The month of January zooms in on your mental health, which has had its ups and downs lately. You’ve been hosting Saturn in your sign for a long time, and with that comes some unavoidable side effects…and constantly managing the direction of your thoughts can be exhausting. That being said, there are some really nice transits heading your way this month…but first: Pluto. On January 2nd, Pluto, which symbolizes power dynamics, secrets, shadows, death, and rebirth, locks horns with Mars, planet of anger and aggression — but also energy and courage. In astrology, each planet has a job — a literal function. And now that Pluto is in your 12th house of mental health and isolation for an extended stay, it’s helpful to consider what it’s trying to accomplish. Instead of folding into the shadows, try to recontextualize this long-term transit as Pluto attempting to transform the most hidden aspects of your psyche, the ones that keep popping up as reactions and seemingly untenable emotions…you know, the ones that kind of ruin your life sometimes? (The ancient astrologers called this house the “place of self-undoing.”) Anyway, back to January 2nd, when Pluto and Mars form a challenging opposition. Mars is hanging out in your work and health sector, aggravating those life areas and giving them the power to somehow zap your psyche. It could be that you hate your job, or you’re exhausted, or you just need to get in shape. Alternatively, it’s possible you’ve been hanging on by a mere thread and it has affected your performance at work, or your health. The Pluto vibes chill a bit until the second half of the month, when the Sun moves into Aquarius and that aforementioned 12th house. Only two days later, on the 21st, Pluto and the Sun crash into each other in an exact conjunction, which sounds overly dramatic but it’s actually a good thing! Pluto is shadowy, and the Sun is bright and warm: this moment in time has the power to illuminate those shadows, to bring the darkness into the light and make it way less scary. This day may bring clarity, a sense of renewal, and the realization that you contain tons of power and agency. Whatever you see or learn this month, the 29th brings an Aquarius New Moon that promises a fresh new start in how you treat your own shadows. This is an important New Moon for you because so much of it circles back to Pisces (hey, that’s you!), so use this powerful moment to intentionally plant the best seeds you can.

If you’re ready for things to lighten up a bit, I do have some good news: Venus, planet of love and beauty, moves into Pisces on the 3rd, making you an avatar for its topics. You’ll be more magnetic and charming, and just feel more Venusian. It’s a great time to revamp your look, too! Venus will have a fateful meeting with Jupiter on the 14th, a perfect day (or night) to hole up at home with candles, chocolate, and someone you think is cute. (If you’re single at the moment, try going out and mingling, the planets are on your side.) However, Venus will run into Saturn on the 19th, reminding you that decadence isn’t everything (lies!) and that responsibilities await. Saturn represents structures, boundaries, and limitations, so you may experience some roadblocks at this time. Meanwhile, Mars leaves your work and health sector on the 6th and retrogrades back into your 5th house of dating, pleasure, children, and creative self-expression. This is a retread — Mars cruised through this life area earlier in the year, and it’s now circling back to wrap up some unfinished business. This can be a fun, spicy transit, or it can be conflict-heavy; it really depends on what’s going on in your life. Regardless, these themes peak on the 13th with the Cancer Full Moon, a moment of high activity in your love life. (Or your creative/parenting life.) There’s one more auspicious day for your love life this month: on the 25th, Venus and Mars join forces to make things sweet and spicy. Feel your feelings! It’s what makes you irresistible. Happy January!
