PREVIEW: Wine and Music Triptych: Wines of Romania
02/28 @ Dance Fire Studio Saratoga
Looking for a night of culinary delight, live music, and cultural heritage? Look no further than Wines of Romania, part of the Wine and Music Triptych by the Musicians of Ma’alwyck. On February 28th at 5:30 PM, you’ll have the opportunity to experience a six-course meal prepared by esteemed chef Jeanette Balins, filled with traditional Romanian dishes such as Chiftele de Peste (spiced fishcakes), Sarmale (pork-stuffed cabbage), and Papanasi (homemade doughnuts).
Balins owned the catering business and restaurant “A Taste of Europe” until its closure in 2018, where she embraced her motto that, “Old World Elegance is Our Heritage.” Meanwhile, sip on some fine Romanian Wines curated by sommelier and managing partner Josh Turo of Yono’s Restaurant in Albany.
As you wine and dine in intimate company, you’ll be enchanted by the Musicians of Ma’alwyck themselves—founder Ann-Marie Barker Schwartz on violin and Sten Isachsen on guitar—who will be joined by guest pianist Michael Lowry. The program will include exciting works like Prelude by Georges Enescu, Ballade by Ciprian Porumbescu, Little Suite by Mihail Jora, and Romanian Dances by Béla Bartók.
The final triptych of this 25th season has been designed specially to honor the heritage of studio owner and ballroom dancer Florin Vlad, who will himself be performing an excerpt of the Romanian epic poem, Luceafărul, (“The Morning Star”) by Mihai Eminescu.
The night is bound to be unforgettable, which many Capital Region residents seem to anticipate—last year’s Spanish Wine Triptych sold out! To ensure that you don’t miss out, reserve your tickets before registration closes at midnight on Sunday, February 23rd.
Tickets $125 per person. Visit musiciansofmaalwyck.org to reserve your spot by February 23! The event is February 28, 2025, 5:30PM at Dance Fire Studio (36 Phila St, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866).
