PREVIEW: NOYK Partners with AFSP For More Sing-Along Shows at Lost & Found

Femininomenon Live Sing-Along: 03/21 @ Lost & Found, Albany

Femininomenon + Emo Live Sing-Along: 04/25 @ Lost & Found, Albany

No One You Know presents more sing-along fun at Lost & Found in Albany on March 21 and April 25. The live shows are free to attend thanks to support from the Capital Region’s American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.

The March event is Femininomenon themed, featuring covers of popular artists including Chappell Roan, Taylor Swift, Sabrina Carpenter, and many more. Local pop artist, Shannon Tehya, will be the featured performer on the evening’s bill. There will also be dance performances by burlesque dancer Veronica Tyrant, pole dancer Penny Royale, and lyra dancer Simon Phoenix.

Tehya, who will be performing songs of her choosing, originally connected with NOYK’s DJ Fearless because she was a known Swiftie. Like many of us, her current favorite artist is Chappell Roan (she’s even your favorite artist’s favorite artist). Tehya has enjoyed curating her setlist for the event while also utilizing it as a way to reflect and grow as an individual artist.

“It’s fun for me too, because I obviously like to write my own music, and when [you] do that, you’re pulling inspiration from a person’s favorite music. So when I get to deep dive into pop music and top 40s music, I feel like it actually kind of comes out of me in my own music,” Tehya said.

DJ Fearless will be there to spin all the other hits, and raffle tickets will be available to purchase for the chance to win a vinyl record. All proceeds will support the AFSP, an organization DJ Fearless connected with a few years ago as a volunteer. The opportunity to partner with them for the sing-along shows is fitting because many artists, as well as their fans, struggle with mental health.

Missy Stolfi, area director for the Capital Region NY Chapter of the AFSP, said being a part of community events in all sorts of places is crucial to the organization, especially because mental health is always present with us, regardless of where we are.

“We can also celebrate the things that support our mental health, and for a lot of people [it’s] music, whether it’s playing music, whether it’s listening and engaging in the music scene; those are some really positive things for a lot of people that help support their mental health and well-being,” Stolfi said. The sing-along events are meant to be a safe, welcoming space for everyone. NOYK has been thrilled to see the sense of community form at the shows thus far.

“People come by themselves because we’ve been developing a scene where people are starting to recognize each other at these events,” DJ Fearless said.

Tehya is looking forward to seeing everyone at her March 21 performance and hopes people come ready to embrace all the positive energy of the collective sing-and-dance party. The party will continue next month for the combination Femininomenon and Emo themed sing-along, featuring Sydney Worthley and her full band on April 25.

The AFSP will have a table at each event with various informational resources regarding prevention education, loss and support programs, and how to get involved as a volunteer in addition to swag items and merchandise. Support the cause and get your Femininomenon on!

Shows start at 9 p.m. Ages 21 and up. For more information on the upcoming events, check out @noykpresents on Instagram.
