PREVIEW: Capital Region Native Annabelle Duffy Returns for Free Concert at Cohoes Music Hall

04/06 @ Cohoes Music Hall, Cohoes

“Her success at Carnegie Mellon and in her early professional career should be a great point of pride for the Capital Region arts community, and we can’t wait to welcome her home to the Music Hall.”

“Seeing Annabelle’s success since leaving the region in 2019 has been incredibly exciting, but not at all surprising,” said Owen Smith, Producing Artistic Director of Playhouse Stage Company.

Annabelle Duffy, a graduate of Albany High School and a rising star in the Broadway scene, will perform a one-night-only free concert at Cohoes Music Hall on Sunday, April 6, at 7:00 PM. The concert, hosted by the Playhouse Stage Company, will feature songs from the hit musical Funny Girl and more.

Duffy’s journey from a young performer in the local theater scene to her current role as the standby understudy for Fanny Brice in the national tour of Funny Girl has been nothing short of remarkable. A graduate of Carnegie Mellon University’s prestigious theater arts program, Duffy has deep roots in the Capital Region, having studied with Playhouse Stage Company for eight years. During her time there, she participated in ten productions, showcasing her passion and talent for performing arts.

The concert will open its doors at 6:00 PM, with all seating available on a first-come, first-served basis. This special event aims to provide friends, family, and local theater enthusiasts an opportunity to witness Duffy’s incredible talent in-person during her brief visit home.

Duffy herself expresses a deep gratitude for the opportunity to return to her roots. Known for her performances in various local theaters, including Playhouse Stage Company, Debuts Theatre, and Steamer 10, Duffy made a mark in the community by winning the Best Actress award at the High School Musical Theatre Awards at Proctors in 2018. This accolade led her to compete nationally at the prestigious Jimmy Awards in New York City, further highlighting her exceptional talent.

As she embarks on her national tour, Duffy remains connected to her beginnings, thanking her friends at Playhouse Stage for facilitating this concert.

“It was clear early on that she was quite a gifted young woman, but she never rested on her natural abilities. She always put the work in to build her skills and grow. Her success at Carnegie Mellon and in her early professional career should be a great point of pride for the Capital Region arts community, and we can’t wait to welcome her home to the Music Hall,” said Smith.

Mark your calendars for this extraordinary evening of music and talent as Annabelle Duffy takes the stage once more, celebrating her roots while inspiring the next generation of performers.
