The mission of the Capital Region Festival of Theatre, Inc. is to “celebrate and promote the enormous depth of theatrical opportunities in the Capital Region…and its surrounding cities, towns, and hamlets”. CRFT believes the Capital Region is a great place to love theatre your whole life. Last month, there were 69 shows independently produced around the 518!
Founded in August of 2024, CRFT’s main goal is to “offer exposure to the number of theatrical venues and events that occur within the region throughout the year available to all ages, races, ethnicity, and genders”. This promotion of events will culminate with an annual theater festival to be held Friday, June 13 through Sunday, June 15. Over 100 theater companies, six regional venues and 100s of volunteers all involved in some aspect of theatrical life in the region will be involved. All events will be free and open to the public, and will spread from Ft. Salem Theater to theREP, including Sand Lake Center for the Arts, Schenectady Light Opera Company, Russell Sage College and the University at Albany.
